Talent Acquisition Specialist

Southlake Health is seeking a highly motivated Talent Acquisition Specialist for a 1-year contract. As part of the dynamic People Culture & Experience department, you will support Southlake Health’s recruitment and contract management efforts. Operating in a multi-union environment, you will assist hiring managers with sourcing, selecting, and executing recruitment strategies for current and future job openings. Your focus will be on creating a positive experience for candidates and enhancing our employer brand.

You will manage multiple vacancies, develop strong candidate networks, and drive the recruitment lifecycle. Your passion for talent acquisition, multitasking skills, and understanding of a healthcare culture will help you identify candidates who embody Southlake Health values. This hybrid position is based in Newmarket and requires the Talent Acquisition Specialist to be on-site three days a week.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manages the entire recruitment process by efficiently supporting the Manager in all aspects of recruitment including developing recruitment strategies based on the specific portfolio needs while adhering to collective agreement guidelines.
• Proactively develop and implement comprehensive sourcing and recruitment strategies to meet portfolio objectives including providing advice and guidance with respect to appropriate advertising strategies for external postings, using social media (i.e. LinkedIn) and professional job posting boards and networks to advertise positions.
• Represent and promote Southlake’s brand at external recruitment events in a positive and professional manner.
• Develop new sourcing channels and strategies to diversify and build the talent pipeline of high potential candidates. (Job Fairs, campus recruitment events, and other events as required)
• Work closely with HRBP’s and the management team to address talent gaps and proactively support those gaps.
• Participates in the development and implementation of Human Resource policies, procedures and programs.
• Ensure compliance with employment laws, privacy legislation, recruitment policies, processes and procedures

Skills & Abilities

• Minimum 3 years of experience in recruitment, with a focus on talent pipeline building, and managing high-volume requisitions in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience in a unionized setting is preferred.
• Proficient in leveraging external recruitment resources like LinkedIn, Indeed, and social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) to build a professional brand and attract top talent.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HR software, with a strong understanding of HR metrics and their role in measuring recruitment success.
• Experience with Workday or other Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) is preferred.
• Proven ability to manage multiple roles and tasks simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with management on developing effective recruitment practices.
• Demonstrated understanding of collective agreements, employee relations rules, and HR legislation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong judgment, diplomacy, and relationship-building abilities.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and administrative skills.
• Committed to delivering exceptional customer service and fostering strong internal and external partnerships.
• Ability to thrive in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• A positive Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in Business/Human Resource or other related field
• CHRP/CHRL or actively working towards completion preferred
• Previous experience in healthcare environment preferred
